     Example 6
               1.  Convert 340mℓ to ℓ.
               1ℓ =1000mℓ to change from mℓ to ℓ divide by 1000
               340 mℓ: 340 ÷ 1000 = 0, 34ℓ
                                                                3
               2. If the volume of the car tank is 70 000 cm , how many litres of petrol can it
               hold?
               This can be done in two ways:
                                               3
                                        3
               First option: convert cm to m
                   3
                                     3
               1m  = 1 000 000 cm
               This means you divide by 1000 000
                                           3
               70000÷1000000 = 0, 07m
                          3
               Convert m  to ℓ
                   3
               1m  = 1000ℓ
               This means you multiply by 1000
               0, 07 x 1000 = 70ℓ
                                            3
               Second option: convert cm to m ℓ
                    3
               1cm  = 1mℓ
               This means you multiply by 1
               70000 x 1 = 70 000mℓ
               Convert mℓ to ℓ
               1 ℓ = 1000mℓ
               This means you divide by 1000
               70 000 ÷ 1000 = 70ℓ
               When working out the volume of different containers, kℓ will be used for larger
               quantities, while ml is used for smaller containers.
